WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Supervises and directs the activities of the Production hourly personnel by providing leadership, team building, and technical guidance. Accountable for maintaining production equipment in a condition to achieve the schedule and departmental KPI’s defined for safety, quality, budgeted cost, and performance expectations. Serves as an alternate to the Production Manager as appropriate.

  • Lead, mentor and develop Group Leaders.

  • Maintain a visible Safety program in you assigned area to assure the Safety and wellbeing of all employees by complying with the Safety standards.

  • Ensures quality production standards are maintained by examining output, checking finished product, conducting physical examinations of testing devices, tagging and/or removing nonconforming product, and monitoring employee use of inspection equipment and compliance to the trained Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Supervise the assigned staff for accuracy of detailed work, manufacturing processes, machine set-up, Brand Changes, overall equipment operation, recordkeeping, safety, housekeeping, procedures and responsibility associated with the area of GMP and other relevant regulations.

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.

  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.

  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.

  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

  • Interprets specifications, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

  • Maintains time and production records.

  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.

  • Lead investigations and resolution of improvements to production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, quality customer complaints (CAPA), safety incidents, and uses root cause analysis methodology.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of production operation and/or work crew.

  • Analyses and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Take corrective action to address process deviations.

  • Provide technical leadership with the Kaizen efforts.

  • Ensure application of lean techniques to achieve improvements.

  • Support advancement initiatives in the areas of Safety, Zero Defect, and Operations Improvement through utilization of a continuous improvement culture.

  • Work concurrently with cross-functional teams including Projects, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, OSHE, and R&D teams.

  • Training, increasing skills of operating team.

  • Provides technical leadership while building teamwork through guidance, coaching, and support to facilitate problem solving.

  • Adheres to general standards to promote a cooperative working environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

  • Perform all other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent with 5-7 years Manufacturing leadership experience, or AS Degree in Engineering or related field with 3-5 years of experience or a BS degree in Engineering or related field with 1-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing is required.

• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES- Directly supervises employees in the Production department which includes group leaders. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

• REASONING ABILITY- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Desired Qualifications:

• preferably with chemical batch processing experience.

• AS or BS degree in Engineering
