The Somatus Project Management Office is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Process Engineer, who will play a key role in instilling a culture of continuous improvement across the enterprise. The PE will utilize industry-recognizable methodologies for process engineering and improvement, specifically; Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and process automation to increase efficiency and improve quality. These methodologies focus on voice of customer and statistical analysis of data in order to remove waste and variation in processes, which:

  • Improves patient and/or customer experience

  • Increases revenue and capacity

  • Reduces errors and expenses

This position is a core part of the Project Management Office team and will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and will report to the AVP, Project Management Office.

Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior process engineering experience. Our Senior Process Engineer must be agile with the ability to quickly adapt strategies, plans, and solutions in response to dynamic business requirements. They also must be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization.

This role requires you to be local and on-site at our headquarters in McLean, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance objectives and metrics across the enterprise to proactively identify process improvement opportunities

  • Partner with operational leaders to execute implementation of process improvements driving stabilization and standardization across the enterprise

  • Directly managing and executing complex, enterprise-scale process improvement initiatives on behalf of executive stakeholders

  • Shepherding projects through the discovery, prioritization and governance process

  • Pursuing process automation opportunities as part of process re-engineering and improvement

  • Effectively communicating operational or project progress against strategic goals to senior executives, sponsors, and stakeholders

  • Leading and planning complex, multi-day rapid improvement sessions for executives and key stakeholders (Kaizen Events)

  • Developing complex communication plans regarding enterprise engagements

  • Lead cross-functional teams working in a variety of projects to explore, develop, optimize, test, and put in place scalable solutions for sample processing workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Advance degree in engineering, business administration, or equivalent STEM field preferred.

  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant work experience.

  • LSS Black Belt Certification required.

  • Project Management Professional Certificate preferred.

  • Proficient in data analytics tools such as SQL and Power BI.

  • Experience with New Product introduction environment including phase-gate process experience.

  • Experience streamlining workflows, developing processes, from concept generation. As well as requirements gathering through to process validation and implementation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence both credibly and effectively at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-level.

  • Ability to connect with diverse constituents and stakeholders across cross-functional teams (leadership, marketing, account management, product and development, data and analytics, market operations and clinical).

  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, matrixed environment.

  • Demonstrated self-starter, strategic thinker, and ability to work collaboratively in a team atmosphere on complex projects and operational issues; can lead and develop others.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage competing tasks independently and efficiently.

  • Excellent presentation skills sufficient to create and present on strategic and enterprise project engagements to senior leadership.

  • Ability to manage and deliver projects with accelerated schedules.
