Job Information

Ihara Science Material Handler in MEADVILLE, Pennsylvania

The primary function of the Material Handler is to assist in machine shop activities.  Tends fabricating machines such as cutoff saw, roll stamping machine, roll hardening machine and single-purpose lathe.

Essential Functions:

  • Programs and operates horizontal band saws.
  • Sets up and operates single-purpose lathes.
  • Sets up and operates rolling machine(s).
  • Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids or trucks.
  • Reads and carries out job orders.
  • Records required data on job tracker cards.
  • Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas for machining in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Adds coolant to reservoirs of machines and lubricates machine parts and ways.
  • Reclaims cutting oil from machines.
  • Removes metal chips and shavings from surface of machines and wipes surfaces of machines to remove excess oil.
  • Operates chip spinner to separate metal shavings, chips, and scrap materials and places them in containers for recycling.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
  • Operates industrial truck to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Uses measuring instruments such as calipers to check dimension of raw materials.
  • Perform other assignments as required.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

-High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

-No experience required

 

Language Skills:

-Fluent in English (Good Communication Skills)

 

Mathematical Skills:

-Basic Math Skills (measuring with tape and caliper, use of calculator)

 

Reasoning Ability:

-Ability to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written and verbal instructions

 

Physical Demands:

-Must frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

-When performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, use hands to finger or handle or feel objects and tools or controls and talk or hear

-Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms

-Employee is occasionally required to sit

-Specific vision abilities require close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:

-Material Handler operates machinery to chamfer bar ends and a fork lift to move material in a manufacturing environment.

-Noise level is usually moderate for a manufacturing plant
