The SCCC department is seeking a Director, Facilities Planning & Construction. The Director is responsible for the management of space and will provide senior level planning, building analysis, project and forecast of design, development, and construction. This position will work with the facilities and construction managers and liaise with department leaders on space planning, renovations and building operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for analysis of spatial requirements and the development of space planning and furniture layouts to develop solutions and functional requirement.

Manage day-to-day activities related to the facilities operations, construction, and high-level strategies for present and future projects, space planning and utilization.

Analyze space and facility layouts for the purpose of advising and strategizing with Center leadership in efforts to best utilize space.

Advise leadership on interior design factors such as space planning, layout, and utilization of furnishings or equipment, and color scheme coordination.

Formulate design plans and estimates along with a timeline for projects and coordinate schedules with staff/ faculty to ensure projects are completed timely.

Coordinate with project managers/faculty/ staff to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, purpose and function.

Prepare analytical reports for current and future space utilization status and plans.

Develop complete and comprehensive project report to include all initiatives required to successfully execute assignments and space planning objective.

Maintain up-to-date data on all projects and space planning and update floor plans.

Prepare and present space documentation and reports to management and stakeholders.

Liaise with senior management and stakeholders to ensure efficient use of resources, conduct alternative design studies and brief on materials, progressive reports, and timing.

Work with project manager to manage overall project budgets including construction, consultant and other fees, furnishings and equipment, operations and costs.

Ensure projects in the planning phase are completed within the approved budget and schedule. Ensures all projects meet federal compliance and zoning ordinances.

Review cost estimates and analysis for cost-benefit analysis on all projects.

Acts as the primary contact among project manager, architects and other various vendors and consultants.

Ensure facilities are in compliance with AHCA, State, Federal and local building codes, rules, regulations and clinical guidelines, and provide advice to ensure conformity with specifications, codes, regulations, and University design standards

Perform on-site surveys to document updates and conduct building audits.

Responsible for managing the annual review process of Sylvester space. This includes coordinating the meeting, providing productivity reports for faculty and presenting to leadership the recommendations made by the committee.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree required in Architecture, Planning, or related field. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required. Three to five years of work-related experience in a health care setting, academia is preferred but not required. Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and schedules is required. Must have excellent English skills (both written and verbal) and be able to work under minimal direction.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Must have experience with AutoCAD and Meridian database and be able to prepare space plans calculate assignments and modeling proposed changes.
