Key Functions:
- Will work closely with planners and maintenance leads on major work needs and parts needed for repairs.
- Will demonstrate strong leadership skills in safety, people and reliability.
- Able to work in sap to write notifications and monitor the w/o’s for the planer area.
- Assist department leadership in leading a team of hourly associates to achieve excellence in Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Production.
- Owner of the planer fire systems and drives fire risk improvement activities with Maintenance.
- Share responsibility in safely planning, organizing, and delivering planner objectives.
- Expected to assist in managing schedules for the team to ensure shift coverage along with all planer maintenance task.
- Expected to assist in building training programs for the team.
- Work schedule as required to meet the mill’s needs.
Ensure a smooth lumber flow to and through the Planer and to produce Lumber with a high-quality finish to meet customer standards.
Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must personally complete the employment application
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical
- Able to work overtime, holidays, weekends as well as night and rotating shifts
- Able to perform labor-intensive work
- Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
- Resume detailing education and work history, is preferred

- Must have demonstrated the ability to work without close supervision.
- Must have demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to learn and train team members in Planer Setup duties.
- Must be a self-starter and highly motivated.
- Must be familiar with hand tools and be able to use them to change knives,
- service the machine, etc.
- Must be able to learn & understand basic computer and sap operations.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed
- Must be a maintenance technician or have planer set up (job) experience or have two years leadership experience.
