Job Title : Communications Intern (Coordinated) 

Reports to : Regional Press Program Director (Coordinated)

Salary : $15/hour, 10 - 20 hours/week

Location : Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Wausau, La Crosse, or Eau Claire are preferred ( Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin. )

Start date : Summer 2024

The Opportunity: As a press intern, you will support the Wisconsin Democratic Coordinated Campaign communications team’s day-to-day operations, including by monitoring local media for major news of the day, putting together regular press clips, supporting the execution of press events, drafting press materials including press releases and newsletters, and organizing press and statement lists.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Put together clips (this will occasionally require early morning work).

  • Monitor and track breaking news and noteworthy developments in the presidential campaign or in Wisconsin local news.

  • Support the organization and execution of press events, including pitch calls and set up/take down of the event.

  • Draft communications materials such as newsletters, advisories, press releases, and other items as needed.

  • Support the communications team’s organization, including by keeping press, story, and statement lists updated.

  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

  • Interest in politics and communications.

    Qualifications (Preferred):  

  • Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel frequently.
