MCW: SARGEANT HEALTH CENTER Research Technologist I in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Purpose Under general supervision provide support for department research through projects, maintenance and communication of data, and execution of laboratory experiments related to injury biomechanics. Primary Functions * Carry out animal surgeries and neurobehavioral testing. * Assist with animal care, including animal husbandry, drug preparation and administration, and euthanasia. * Perform fixation and dissection techniques. Prepare tissue for histological analysis. Cut tissue and prepare slides for microscopic analysis or material property testing. * Assist with analysis of neurobehavioral assessments and microscopic imaging. * Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results. * Schedule and coordinate with other lab groups to ensure testing devices are utilized in a way that accommodates all parties. * Assist with the evaluation, interpretation, and assessment of experimental data. * Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed. * Carry out assigned duties for preparation of experimental designs and lab set-up. * Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research. * Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principal Investigator. * Other laboratory tasks as assigned by supervisor or Principal Investigator. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Knowledge of biology, physiology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills. Preferred Schedule: Position Requirements: Specifications Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on equivalent basis Minimum Required Education: Bachelor\'s degree Minimum Required Experience: No experience required Preferred Education: Bachelor\'s degree in a life science field such as biology or neuroscience Preferred Experience: Prior work in a research setting including experience working with animals and exposure to electrophysiology Preferred Field: Basic Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Physiology, or Neuroscience related field.
