The successful applicant will join an active center under the Executive Directorship of Professor Andrew Oxenham, and Scientific Co-Directors Professors Gordon Legge and Peggy Nelson. This position is charged with independently maintaining research equipment, facilitating experiments by research groups, and running all day-to-day operations of CATSS. This position may also include responsibility for setting up, operating, and maintaining the equipment within a mobile research and outreach vehicle. Salary range is $60-70K. This is a 12-month, 100% time, continuous Civil Service position classified as a Research Professional 3, job code 8352P3. Job Responsibilities: Maintain research equipment (25%) Independently maintain all research equipment in CATSS lab and CATSS mobile research and outreach vehicle to ensure it remains in working order. Help set up equipment in new mobile research and outreach vehicle; consult with and make recommendations to CATSS leaders regarding appropriate equipment for this unique setting. Identify the need for new and replacement equipment and parts; coordinate purchasing, installation, and testing; ensure proper functioning. Coordinate with vendors and department finance staff, as needed. Facilitate experiments and data handling (40%) Independently coordinate with and assist research groups in setting up and running experiments within the CATSS lab and/or CATSS mobile unit. Provide customized and knowledgeable guidance to ensure the success of their experiments. Demonstrate and train on proper use of research equipment; provide information on and ensure understanding of standard operating procedures and lab safety protocols. Ensure access to the physical research space, as well as virtual facilities, such as booking calendars, databases, and CATSS software, for authorized researchers. Ensure proper handling of data and treatment of equipment by members of the research groups, including monitoring all groups to make sure that all equipment and computers are back to default settings after each use. Operations and Communication (30%) Independently coordinate all day-to-day operations of CATSS, including scheduling, access and use, communication, and infrastructure. Maintain and oversee booking calendars for all CATSS facilities and equipment. Communicate with relevant stakeholders and research groups regarding scheduling details and onboarding and offboarding information necessary to ensure a successful visit and experiment. Develop and maintain relevant documentation, including standard operating procedures and lab safety procols. Develop and maintain information on available CATSS research equipment on the website. Notify CATSS users regarding changes in status of facilities and equipment, as needed. Other (5%) Meet and communicate regularly with CATSS Director and as needed with Co-Scientific Directors; ensure understanding of their directives and implement; keep them well-informed of center operations, including updates, challenges, opportunities, successes, and issues. Coordinate with CATSS leadership to manage timely completion of CATSS project milestones and management of their research studies Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field and at least 4 years of experience or advanced degree and 2 years experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years. Significant experience in the area of sensory (hearing or vision) research. Signif cant experience in acoustic and auditory research instrumentation and programming. Driver's license Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Matlab for programming auditory experiments. Experience in setting up EEG experiments. Experience in electroacoustic equipment maintenance.
