General Job Statement: The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing education around the harms of commercial tobacco and other substance-use and reducing the use of commercial tobacco and other substances within the black, indigenous, and other peoples of color communities. This position will accomplish this through continued education, outreach, and tabling events. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and two years of experience working in community health, human services, public health or related field, or Associates degree in community health, human services, public health or related field and three years of experience working in a human services or health care environment, required. Bachelor's degree in community health, Human Services, or public health or related field with one year of experience, preferred. Must have strong organizational and communication skills. Able to interact effectively with people of various ages and ethnic cultural backgrounds. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as necessary. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of professional standards in delivering exceptional customer service when addressing queries or requests from participants, visitors, volunteers, and the community. Demonstrated ability to utilize tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and empathy in interactions. Superior communication skills and experience working with a diverse population. Ability to have a professional personal presentation. Great attention to detail and stress tolerance. Ability to work independently and problem solve. Ability to be honest, respectful, and trustworthy. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
