The department is responsible for the administration, operation and maintenance of reliable and efficient transportation services on the Twin Cities campus including transit, parking, fleet, streets, walkways and way-finding. PTS supports alternatives to the single-occupant vehicle and promotes programs to encourage the University community to walk, bike, carpool, or take the bus. The department handles compliance documentation for all University vehicles or licensed equipment and administers the fuel credit card, vehicle insurance and safety, and employee driver training programs. PTS Mission Facilitating safe and effective integrated transportation systems that provide services for pedestrians, bicycles, transit and vehicles. Responsibilities 20% Transportation Programs Support Assist Transportation Programs manager in planning, organizing and coordinating the activities of the Travel Demand Management (TDM) program Assist the Transportation Programs Manager in implementing quality control procedures and performance measures to ensure a high level of customer service, appropriate implementation of alternative transportation incentive programs, and effectiveness of marketing the TDM program; Assist in conducting transportation related surveys. Assist in survey data analysis and conduct additional analysis as needed. Collect additional data and conduct analysis on transportation as needed to evaluate progress. Log and monitor University community participation in rideshare, car share, transit, bike and scooter share, and other alternative transportation programs (see specific duties for bike and electric vehicle programs below) 30% Bike Program Support Manage ZAP bike commuter incentive program including compiling user data for health insurance premium reductions, securing and distributing incentive discounts from local businesses, as well as coordinating quarterly team competitions. Assist with the coordination and maintenance of bike locker/secure bike cage parking contract rentals, and assist with managing inventory/access of secure bike parking. Collect, process, and analyze ZAP usage data in order to determine University-affiliation participation rates, commuter habits, ZAP station reliability, usage trends, etc. Perform field duties relating to bike infrastructure such as tagging abandoned bikes on campus and assisting with the coordination of their removal. Asset management including ZAP station troubleshooting and coordinating with Maintenance for repairs. Maintaining an ArcGIS mapping of campus bike and alternative transportation infrastructure. Oversee student interns on abandoned bike program and bike sale. 15% Electric Vehicle Program Support Monitor operation and assist in maintenance of public EV charging stations to ensure reliable availability Collect, process, and analyze charging data in order to determine usage rates, patterns, unit reliability, etc. Perform field duties relating to user notices and regular unit inspection 25% Infrastructure Projects Support Assist in coordinating the campus signage program including all way-finding, parking, transit/bus, regulatory, bike and street signage requirements. Inspect and identify existing signage in need of repair or replacement. Identify and recommend additional signage requirements, document deficiencies via locating issues on campus maps, compiling lists and/or writing reports as directed by supervisor. Initiate repair orders to install, repair or replace items. Facilitate needed repairs, replacement and/or additions. Respond to customer inquiries and questions related to campus signage, assist as directed, in notifyi g departments and customers of completion. Complete facility inspections on a regular basis. Initiate repair orders to install, repair or replace items and follow up on work orders to ensure timely completion and accurate invoicing to PTS. 10% Outreach and Promotion Work with supervisor to respond to customer requests and complaints. Customer communications including technical assistance/troubleshooting, writing and distributing a quarterly newsletter, and answering questions regarding alternative transportation on campus. Design and coordinate outreach media such as posters, newsletters, or graphics. Plan and staff alternative transportation outreach and education events. Manage program social media platforms. Work with communication staff to update project and program related web pages. Work Environment__ Work is performed in both an office and field environment. Position requires the strength and agility to lift 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years; Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of and experience with University policies, systems and procedures. Demonstrated commitment to sustainable transportation practices. Ability to function in a collaborative and collegial environment. Strong commitment to customer service. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. Information technology concepts related to duties assigned. Applies knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on precision and timeliness of execution.
