YOUR ROLE
GIS Technician is a role that captures and implements best practices on data management and GIS usage for our Engineering/GIS customers .
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Compiling geographic information in the form of satellite images, geographical surveys, and aerial photographs.
Researching and verifying geographic data.
Entering new data into the GIS database.
Drawing maps using GIS computer software.
Ensuring maps are annotated and compiled with the correct information.
Compiling reports using all available GIS and GPS data sources.
Maintaining the GIS database and troubleshooting data issues.
Traveling to geographic sites to obtain field data .
Work closely with designers and engineers to understand the client's business issues and challenges to propose Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions .
Assist in planning for various projects, including development of the project scope, estimates of effort and other required resources to complete projects .
Propose GIS solutions to problems considering timeliness and effectiveness in addressing the client's needs .
Trace map elements to generate vector data that indicate specific coverage information or geographic attributes .
Design or prepare graphic representations of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, using GIS hardware or software applications .
Analyze GIS data to identify spatial relationships or display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data .
Review existing and incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation .
Assist in the development of organization-wide GIS standards and policies .
Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software, and program.
Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
You have a minimum of a n Associate's Degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Geography, Natural Resources, or related field is required.
1-2 years of GIS work experience preferred.
G eospatial technology knowledge, including some or all : Esri's Web GIS software including ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server), ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Apps Suite, ArcGIS Insights and ArcGIS Pro + Business Analyst software suite or similar platform and software packages .

Location
This position is based in our Minot, ND office; however, occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.
Salary & Benefit Information
This is a full-time exempt position with a competitive pay based on experience, plus a competitive benefits package. As an additional benefit, Ackerman-Estvold compensates salaried individuals for overtime at the base rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.
