The Sales Development Manager – Municipal Markets (SDM) works directly with municipal industry customers and Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) to advance opportunities through the sales process workflow at target accounts, deploys coaching and training (sales methodology/skills, technical, product, application) to RSMs, and plays the role of domain expert in customer-facing situations.

The SDM plays a key role in new product launches, seller productivity improvement, new seller onboarding and the sharing of knowledge across the community of front-line sellers.

This is a high impact, advanced technical sales position critical to the successful deployment of Hach’s corporate strategies as well as leading and sustaining high levels of productivity throughout the sales team.

This will be a remote, field-based role covering the United States.

A typical day could include...

  • Frequent engagement with Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) to develop and enhance technical aptitude of Hach’s products and related applications.

  • Train and mentor RSMs to achieve technical competency related to strategic initiatives.

  • Assist RSMs with qualifying, advancing and closing strategic and/or complex sales opportunities with the intent of developing seller’s competency. This would include performing site evaluations to uncover unmet needs and driving funnel growth at target accounts.

  • Drive growth of lab, process equipment and service sales in support of strategic solutions strategy.

  • Training and on-boarding of new RSMs to rapidly assimilate new associates.

  • Work closely with new product commercialization teams to ensure rapid deployment of technical and commercial content to the field.

  • Proactively engage and act as voice of sales (VOS) with other departments such as, but not limited to, Product Management, Marketing, Technical Support, Training and Service.

The essential requirements of this job include:

  • BA, BS or MS degree required. A degree in a commercial or science related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as, but not limited to, technical support, direct sales or service is required.

  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control technologies.

  • Must have good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce) & exemplary written & verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% across North America.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record which is acceptable Hach Company.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
