Job Description

The Director of Sales Proposals leads a Proposal team of writers and a manager who is responsible to oversee the delivery of market-leading and consultant-specific proposals for all assigned bids. This position serves as a key resource for strategic sales messaging and product positioning by establishing and cultivating strategic business relationships with key sales and market influencers, as well as partnering with internal stakeholders to translate business development strategies into specific content. The Director of Sales Proposals performs analysis of current market needs, aligns those needs with product development, and improves the overall sales process while leading the refinement of the pre-bid, proposal, post-bid follow up, and win/loss analysis in the sales process to increase win rates and support Prime’s growth imperative.

Responsibilities'

  • Provide thoughtful team direction and prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to elevate team performance and progress towards reaching business goals

  • Oversee cross functional efforts to manage and enhance Prime’s overall proposal process; establish overall best practices for large bid proposals with other proposal directors and drive the usage of those practices throughout entire organization

  • Collaborate with Sales in the development of business strategy and influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches

  • Lead strategic pre-sales bid process to increase win ratios, and lead the qualification analysis in partnership with Sales lead and key operational teams to ensure viability of opportunity (i.e., obstacles, strategy, and priority)

  • Participate in new client Go-to-Market meetings to onboard new clients

  • Develop strong working partnerships, along with Sales/Account Management, Marketing, Implementation, and Underwriting leadership; attend regular client meetings as deemed necessary to enrich client partnerships throughout the relationship, e.g., Through the Blue

  • Conduct bid deconstruction and analysis for product, price and positioning; improve bid responses by leveraging win/loss analysis and systematically capture business intelligence to support future bids; present findings and facilitate “what this means to us” discussions, provide analysis by consultant, client and competitor to Sales team

  • Develop consultant informatics: hot buttons, perceived strengths and weaknesses; manage and track consultant agreements as they relate to RFP responses

  • Represent the external market opportunities to develop creative, measurable sales campaigns focused on communicating and nurturing relationships (http://www.ehow.com/relationships-and-family/) with clients, driving increased sales and retention

  • Manage department expenses, staffing, team morale and development, performance and consistently demonstrate Prime’s leadership expectations during interactions with direct reports, cross functional and external stakeholders

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience

  • 7 years of progressive work experience in PBM or Health Plan Proposals, sales planning and/or sales performance

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to Associate Vice President of Sales Proposals

Potential pay for this position ranges from $109,000.00 - $174,000.00 based on experience and skills. Pay range may vary by 8% depending on applicant location.
