Atlantic Health System HIM Scanner / Indexer in Morristown, New Jersey

Responsible for providing timely, accurate, and accessible electronic clinical patient information charting by scanning medical records/health information reports using Epic and Chartmax. Reports to the HIM/ROI Supervisor, Manager of HIM, and Director of Coding and Compliance and works within own department and with other departments.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Performs duties related to the receipt, preparation, scanning, indexing and destruction of health and administrative information. Ensures health record documents daily, scan and indexes materials with established guidelines; and makes the proper disposition of documents for unavailable records.

  2. Performs scanning of documents into the electronic document management system format utilizing established process in a timely manner within 24 hours of receipt to ensure information becomes available for patient care.

  3. Maintains quality control to ensure the integrity, completeness, and legibility of scanned patient health records. Validation of the paper record to scanned images to ensure a complete and legible record.

  4. Engages in tracking, retrieving, and performing follow-up activities on health records.

  5. Maintains a daily productivity log of scanning and indexing activities.

  6. Provides relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards and responsible for all productivity reports.

  7. Creates flexibility in order to undertake a variety of miscellaneous duties.

  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

  1. 2 years' work experience in healthcare, information technology, medical records experience or relevant area.
