rrPosition Summary:

r The Instruction and User Services Engagement Librarian participates as a library faculty member, providing instruction, user engagement, and reference services in support of the academic programs of the University of Idaho. This position entails significant library instruction, coordination and leadership for our point-of-need reference services, and participation in student engagement initiatives. Additionally, this position may include liaison duties with academic programs or student groups.

This fiscal year faculty position has negotiable tenure and is open to the rank of assistant and associate professor. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in department and college bylaws.

rrMinimum Qualifications:

r

  • Masters degree from an ALA-accredited library program or the equivalent.
  • Experience providing reference and/or instruction services or with course work involving reference and/or instruction;
  • Experience applying or utilizing contemporary library technology and techniques within course work or when assisting library users; and
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations online and in-person.

rrPreferred Qualifications:

  • Reference and instruction experience in an academic library;
  • Demonstration of creativity or innovation in library services;
  • Enthusiastic commitment to teaching and interacting with undergraduates;
  • Strong commitment to public service;
  • Evidence of strong technology skills (including but not limited to experience creating and maintaining web-based products and digital instructional materials);
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and collaboratively in a collegial environment; and
  • Knowledge of assessment methods and activities used in reference and/or library instruction.
