Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Behavioral Health Director, responsible for implementation of the SAMHSA Native Connections Grant to ensure the project is managed on a daily basis in accordance with the funding terms and conditions, the project proposal and best practice grants management principles. Ensure successful engagement and collaboration occurs among key community stakeholders. All Behavioral Health staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws. This is a grant funded position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement integrated prevention services and supports designed to prevent and reduce suicidal behavior and risk, substance use and misuse and associated mental health issues including complex trauma involving the community.

Establish and involve the advisory groups from early planning to implementation of the selected prevention model and associated activities including evaluation.

Conduct planning and implementation of Native Connections in accordance with SAMHSA Strategic Prevention Framework steps among which include: 1) Identification of problems and related behaviors; risk and protective factors; community resources, service system analysis and asset mapping; and utilizing the Community Readiness Model 2) Build Capacity 3) Plan effective interventions.

Upon completion of the year one planning period, identify with advisory group, a potential prevention strategy that is evidence-based, practice-based and shown to be effective or promising in the Tribal community using SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-Based Practices and Programs (NREPP) http://www.nrepp.samhsa.gov and SPRC's Best Practice Registry to develop and implement an innovative strategy that relates to community/culture.

Implement a selective prevention model that incorporates: a) assessment of at-risk young people up to and including age 24, especially those who have attempted suicide and those who use and misuse substances and are in need of follow-up services; b) ensures effective care delivery and care transition to further services and c) effectively responds to subsequent needs, including recovery support services.
