What is a PACE program?

The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is a unique health care model designed to help seniors (participants) stay safely in their home for as long as possible. PACE coordinates and provides or facilitates all medical care for its participants. Services are delivered across various settings, including on site at the PACE center, in the community, and in participant homes.

Staffing ratios are much lower, time spent with each participant is much greater, and team collaboration occurs much more frequently than in other care settings. PACE is a very fulfilling health care delivery model for its employees.

PCA Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Assisting participants in the home with basic activities of daily living to include, but not limited to: bathing and grooming, dressing and undressing, meal preparation and feeding, assistance with transferring to or from bed and chair, toileting, ambulation, memory care and stimulation activities, and light housework.
  • Frequent interactions with participant's families and other support persons.
  • Documenting treatments/procedures, observations, nursing care, and participant activities on appropriate forms and or in the electronic medical record.
  • Reporting changes in the participant's condition to the appropriate PACE team member.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) -- Michigan, required.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan Driver's License.
  • Six months or more clinical experience preferred.
