The Senior IT Manager for Enterprise Architecture & Data Platforms (EADP) at Medtronic is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing project management, program management, portfolio management, and continuous improvement activities within EADP. This includes defining project scope, goals, benefits, and deliverables, as well as managing resources, timelines, and budgets. Additionally, the role involves coordinating related projects, managing the IT portfolio, driving continuous improvement, providing leadership and collaboration, ensuring governance and compliance, and contributing to strategic planning. Ultimately, the Senior IT Manager for EADP is accountable for driving operational excellence, delivering value through IT initiatives, and contributing to the overall success of the EADP organization. The preferred candidate is SAFe 6.0 Lean Portfolio Manager (LPM) certified. The preferred candidate has a proven track record of developing teams and maturing capabilities. The ideal candidate is capable of developing individual contributors into the future leaders of the organization.

A Day in the Life

• Overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects within the EADP value stream, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and successful outcomes. This involves defining project scope, goals, and deliverables, as well as managing project resources, timelines, and budgets to ensure efficient project management.

• Coordinating and managing multiple related projects within the EADP value stream, addressing interdependencies, risks, and issues across the program portfolio.

• Managing the EADP IT portfolio, including prioritization, resource allocation, and strategic alignment with business objectives, evaluating and selecting projects based on their potential value and impact.

• Driving a culture of continuous improvement within the EADP value stream, identifying opportunities for enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing processes, and implementing best practices in project and program . . management.

• Establishing and driving continuous improvement of portfolio execution leveraging the Scaled Agile Framework.

• Providing leadership and guidance to a team of IT professionals, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams, and building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization.

• Ensuring compliance with IT governance frameworks, standards, and regulatory requirements, implementing effective controls and measures to mitigate risks.

• Contributing to the development and execution of the EADP IT strategy, aligning IT initiatives with business goals, and driving innovation and transformation within the value stream.

• Responsible for driving operational excellence and delivering value through IT initiatives, contributing to the overall success of the EADP organization.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• 18+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 15+ years of experience with an advanced degree.

• 8+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have

• Previous Medtronic experience.

• Prior experience and proven track record in software development, architecture or other highly technical roles prior to becoming a project management and continuous improvement people leader.

• Project and program management certification such as the Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP) or agile certified practitioner (PMI-ACP).

• Knowledge of IT governance and compliance frameworks.

• Experience in strategic planning and leadership.

• Continuous improvement and operational excellence background. Certified in continuous improvement.

• SAFe 6.0 Lean Portfolio Manager (LPM) certified.

• Prior experience in healthcare technology, medical devices, life sciences.

• Understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

• Organizational Change Management (OCM) and transformation experience.

• Stakeholder management expertise.

• Proficiency in data management, analytics, business intelligence and automation tools.

• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and scalable IT infrastructure solutions.

• Skills in identifying and mitigating project, program and portfolio related risks.

• Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
