Oracle Data Center Inventory Control Specialist - 3 in Nashville, Tennessee

Job Description

The Inventory Control Specialist will play a key role in managing and optimizing the offsite decommissioning of server racks by partnering with a 3PL provider. This includes overseeing secure transportation, storage, and data-bearing device destruction at a regional warehouse facility. The role ensures that all decommissioned racks are tracked, processed, and reconciled in alignment with inventory accuracy, security, and compliance standards.

In addition to decommissioning, the specialist will also be responsible for broader inventory control functions, including cycle counts, audits, reporting, and process improvement across global operations. The ideal candidate will have experience managing vendor relationships, driving operational efficiencies, and maintaining compliance with security protocols.

Responsibilities

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Rack Decommissioning Management : Oversee the physical removal, tracking, and offsite transport of demmissioned racks to secure facilites. Ensure accurate documentation and reconciliation of inventory

  • 3PL Partnership & Vendor Oversight: Act as the primary liaison with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, ensuring service-level agreement (SLA) compliance and high performance in rack decommissioning activities.

  • Secure Inventory Transfer & Data Destruction: Ensure secure handling, storage, and destruction of data-bearing devices in accordance with Oracle’s security standards. Verify proper chain of custody during transportation and warehouse storage.

  • Process Optimization & Compliance: Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency in rack decommissioning and excess asset management while maintaining compliance with regulatory and security requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data center operations, logistics, procurement, and security teams to align inventory decommissioning with broader operational goals. Escalate issues as needed.

  • Technology & Reporting: Utilize inventory management systems to track decommissioned racks, manage bulk uploads, and generate detailed inventory reports for leadership.

  • Storage & Space Optimization: Ensure efficient warehouse utilization by working with the 3PL to optimize space for incoming decommissioned racks and prevent backlogs.

Must Have Skills/Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in inventory control, logistics, or warehouse management, preferably in a data center environment.

  • Ability to ensure compliance with security protocols and chain of custody requirements for decommissioned assets.

  • Experience working with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and managing vendor relationships.

  • Strong understanding of inventory tracking systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with IT hardware and data-bearing devices, particularly in server rack decommissioning.

  • Experience with rack decommissioning processes, including secure transport, inventory tracking, and asset disposition.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.

  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

  • Physically able to move, store, and organize hardware, as required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Prior experience leading rack decommissioning or data center infrastructure projects.

  • Knowledge of secure asset handling, destruction protocols, and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills for inventory reporting.

Degree/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

  • Certification in inventory or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CPIM, or CSCP) is preferred, but not required.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $63,000 to $126,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
