Mississippi Employer Operations Superintendent in Natchez, Mississippi

About the role

Reporting to the Company's Operations Manager, an exciting opportunity exists for an Operations Superintendent

 to join the Syrah team based in Vidalia, Louisiana. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day operation of personnel and manufacturing activities, utilizing your operational and technical knowledge to ensure a safe, high quality, low cost, and high performing work environment. Operations Superintendent is expected to provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing facility including overseeing plant production, materials, equipment, and tools to ensure efficiency is maintained and projects remain on schedule. 

 

Key role responsibilities include:

  • Promote a safe workplace, Leading Safety initiatives and assure team members understand and comply with safety protocols/rules 
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Syrah policies and guidelines. Partner with Safety Manager to effectively communicate and enforce the safety program.
  • Promote a 5S program and housekeeping
  • Lead Safety Incidents investigation, making sure Root Causes are identified and proper corrective action are in place
  • Make sure the production area meets all safety protocols requirement and tasks are performed as per SOP
  • Manage SOP review process up to date and ensure all SOPs are properly deployed to all employees with proper sign off documentation
  • Manage training program, ensuring all employees are up to date with trainings on all equipment, processes, protocols, production standards, safety regulations, and quality aspects according to program and on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure New Employees training is in place and effective with 45- and 90-days performance reviews with assigned Supervisor
  • Establish production plans and forecasts (yearly, monthly, weekly, daily) and maintain compliance to production schedule
  • Prepare Production reports and define strategy to achieve targets
  • Ensure production practices are in compliance with standards to achieve expected quality for the product
  • Manage Production budget, understanding causes for variation and defining action to achieve cost targets 
  • Work with Maintenance Superintendent to ensure that all Safety and Maintenance work orders affecting Production are completed in a timely manner.
  • Lead and develop a team, coach, and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Partners with Process and Quality teams to ensure quality is maintained at high level.
  • Make sure Quality protocols are met and all QAQC tasks are performed on time and as per standard
  • Establish an Audit Program for the Production Department and perform Operation Audits with focus in Safety and Quality compliance
  • Implement Lean tools and a "Systems" mindset to all operating systems
  • Keep ISO requirement up to date
  • Other duties as assigned

     

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Experience in an operational leadership role with the responsibility of leading and training direct reports, preferably within the Manufacturing (or related) industry.
  • Preferably 1 year experience in a processing environment within the Chemical Manufacturing (or related) industry.
  • Proven exposure to and use of safe systems of work -- e.g., risk management, incident reporting. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work according to production schedules. 
  • Basic computer literacy is desirable. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment and share information as required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
