Ices Inc Direct Support Professional (Residential) 2nd Shift in Naugatuck, Connecticut
High-Level Description:
Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are an extremely important role in our company as they work directly with our individuals, ensuring they can lead their best lives and can be successful in both our Residential and Vocational settings. DSPs report to either a Residential Program Manager or Vocational Manager, depending on placement, and the role has advancement opportunities to increase responsibilities and pay.
This position requires employees to work Wednesday 7:00pm – 12:00am, Thursdays and Fridays 2:30pm – 12:00am, and Sunday 10:00am – 10:00pm. There is also the opportunity to pick up open shifts as needed in our Vocational setting as well as in our Residential settings.
Job Responsibilities:
Individuals Direct Care/Oversight:
Ensure the needs of the individuals are met consistently and in accordance with the individuals’ plan so they can live their best lives. This includes but is not limited to medical / behavioral appointments, job skills /vocational needs, daily living skills, financial, transportation, etc.
Maintain and update individuals’ plans as needed in accordance with state and agency requirements
Responsible for daily housekeeping tasks and daily upkeep of the individual’s home and/ or work environment
Provide safe transportation of individual(s). Ensure agency vehicles are maintained and required documentation is completed timely
Administer medication and implement delegated responsibilities ordered by licensed medical personnel (Med Certification Required
Business Partner Relationships and Communications:
Communicate regularly to management team on individual’s performance, successes, and issues
Actively participate on the Interdisciplinary Team which is focused on development and implementation of the Individual Plan for the individuals entrusted to our care
Partner with other DSPs and administrative team members to share expertise and insights
Identify and participate in projects / initiatives that contribute to long-term excellence and individuals’ growth
Develop understanding of the workings of each department that interact with individuals
Required Trainings and Certifications:
This position requires specific training requirements / certifications that must be always maintained including but not limited to:
DDS Med Certification (within first 6 months of employment)
CPR
PMT
Human Rights and Neglect
Attendance at Mandatory Staff Meetings
Other Position Related Information:
This position is considered essential staff and is critical towards the care of our individuals
This position has physical demands associated including:
Standing, walking, and sitting
Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds)
This position may require employees to work outside
