United States Fleet Forces Command PIPEFITTER LEADER in Naval Shipyard, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER in the PIPE SHOP 960 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will participate in the engineering and planning phases of work by providing specialized trade expertise in the planning, arrangement, and resolution of drawing and interference problems for piping systems. You will conduct independent inspections to evaluate existing worksite conditions in order to validate that planned work is executable to achieve engineered objectives. You will acquire precision data of piping system configurations, dimensions, and interferences, as well as annotate engineering drawings and develop digital models with the use of traditional tooling. You will analyze engineering drawings, Technical Work Documents, sketches and evaluate captured data in order to evaluate manufacturing, repair, or modification. You will coordinate drawing deviation approval with the appropriate shipyard-engineering Department. You will assist support shops/codes by using traditional tooling, PCMMs, metrology and CAD software to align components/assemblies. You will support nuclear and nonnuclear piping systems/components on various naval vessels. You will translate engineering drawings and technical design specifications into an installation sequence plan for the manufacturing of piping systems. You will calculate critical dimensions to identify potential interferences and prevent fouling of piping products. You will develop detailed sketches, models, and drawings using traditional methods and CAD software for use by production personnel in the prefabrication processes and subsequent installation processes of shipboard piping systems. You will apply fundamental engineering concepts to develop complex piping arrangements. You will assist the supervisor with stand-up safety meetings and providing the mechanics of his/her work team with applicable safety reminders and/or instructions. You will calculate weld shrinkage, offset values, miter angles, and wall thickness values to determine shipboard installation suitability.
