The Nephi City Police Department is pleased to announce the acceptance of applications for the position of Police Officer, serving Nephi City. The Police Department is looking for applicants who are committed to a community-oriented policing philosophy. The Police Department has assignments in Patrol, Investigations, SRO and SWAT. Qualifications - Applicants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of full employment and be able to successfully pass an employment and criminal background investigation. Must be Utah P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Officer Certified (LEO) and in good standing. Applicants must possess a valid Utah state driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment. Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge of community oriented policing, patrol operations, criminal investigations, report writing and safety standards related to the use of vehicles, firearms and other police equipment. Residency in Nephi is not a requirement. Compensation and Benefits - Depending on qualifications and position availability, the starting salary range is $28.59 to $34.91 per hour for a Police Officer. Benefits include city paid retirement in the URS system, medical and dental insurance and 12 paid holidays per year. NCPD has a car per officer program. Physical Demands and Work Environment - The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met or will be encountered by a police officer while successfully performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, police officers are frequently required to sit and talk and hear. Police officers are required to stand, walk, run, use hands to feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and taste or smell. Police officers must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, police officers work in outside weather conditions. Police officers occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in precarious places, with firearms, ammunition and explosives and are occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, extreme cold and vibration. Police officers work rotating shifts, on weekends and on holidays. Police Officers must adhere to all NCPD policies and procedures.
