Location: New Rochelle Family Court
Hours : Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
Rate of Pay: $16-$17 per hour dependent on experience
OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES :
The Guidance Center’s Children’s Center in the New Rochelle Family Court provides a safe, fun, and playful experience for children while their families attend court appointments. Staff care for children while they play, create artwork, and read in brand new facilities well-equipped with toys, books, games, and activities. Workers are trained i n supporting children’s social/emotional well-being and provide families with connections to vital communit y resources they need .
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS :
Provide childcare and active supervision for children from six weeks thru twelve years of age while their families are attending family court sessions
Maintain a safe and healthy environment in which children can learn
Complete OCFS mandated trainings prior to and throughout employment
Maintain up to date attendance and health records for children in care
Release children only to custodial parent or other authorized by custodial parent in writing
Provide information about community resources to families
Follow all guidelines and regulations as defined by STATEWIDE CHILDREN’S CENTERS PROGRAM, New York State Office of Court Administration Division of Professional and Court Services

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONAL / ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT:
- Continue in professional development including 30 hrs of OCFS required training per License cycle and other training as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Flexible and collaborative in working with a team of professionals a nd families of many backgrounds
Ability to maintain calm during emotional experiences
Ability to create a safe, nurturing experience for children of various ages and abilities
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma, minimum of two years of experience working with young children. CPR/First Aid Training required within 3 months of employment.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Must be capable of working in close proximity with young children.
Must be capable of working with children on the floor, running, and assisting with self-help skills including diapering/toileting
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
Work alongside co-workers within 3 feet
