The U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. ABOUT THE ROLE:

At Tock, we are tackling hard problems with elegant solutions and scaling very quickly. As an Engineering Director, you will play a crucial role in taking our product to the next level. We are seeking ambitious leaders who are eager to build out exciting features for our restaurant partners and Tock diners. The ideal candidates can work quickly and produce well-architected solutions collaboratively. You thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment, you are a collaborator and an innovator, you can inspire teams of people to deeply engage, and you are excited about what technology is doing for the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

  • Run a distributed team of engineers, technical leaders, and managers.

  • Foster a productive, highly collaborative environment where engineers love to work.

  • Retain and hire talent and strengthen our technical and managerial leadership bench.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  • 8 years of experience working as a Software Engineer, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment

  •  5 years of direct management experience leading engineering teams

  • You are comfortable working with stakeholders outside the Engineering team including our Compliance, Information Security, Product, Sales and Account Management teams

  • Understand all parts of a modern web-based application stack from Frontend to Backend and Production.

  • Expertise with modern Java language concepts and tools

  • Experience with SQL and RDBMS (MySQL , MariaDB, Postgres), and database design

  • A history of taking projects through the entire software development lifecycle from inception to delivery at scale as a technical leader

BIG PLUS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Preferably a BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline

  • 10 years of software development experience especially in a leadership capacity

Qualifications

Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
