Robert Half Payroll & Human Resources Associate in New York, New York

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll & Human Resources Specialist to join our client’s team in a permanent capacity. This on-site role is designed to balance responsibilities equally between Payroll and Human Resources functions. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in both areas, capable of managing a wide range of tasks efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Duties (50%):

  • Process multi-state payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees accurately and on time.

  • Handle tax deductions, garnishments, commission payments, benefits deductions, and other payroll-related transactions.

  • Conduct payroll investigations and resolve discrepancies.

  • Calculate and manage Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals and usage.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

  • Maintain payroll records and prepare reports as needed.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues.

Human Resources Duties (50%):

  • Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.

  • Manage the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to maintain accurate employee records.

  • Conduct background checks and ensure compliance with hiring standards.

  • Perform various HR administrative tasks including maintaining employee files and documentation.

  • Oversee benefits administration and assist employees with benefits-related questions.

  • Assist with recruitment efforts, including job postings, screening applicants, and coordinating interviews.

  • Support employee relations initiatives, including addressing employee concerns and facilitating conflict resolution.

  • Assist in performance management processes, including tracking performance reviews and employee development plans.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.

  • A minimum of three years of experience in a combined HR and payroll role.

  • Strong proficiency with Paylocity or similar payroll/HRIS software.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and labor laws.
