Spotify USA Senior Engineer in New York, New York
Company: Spotify USA, Inc.Company HQ: 4 World Trade Center, 150 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007Location: *Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S.Job Title: Senior EngineerDUTIES: Design, build, maintain, evolve and scale Spotify’s data and backend systems, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and tooling. Analyze large volumes of diverse data, modeling complex human-scale problems, and developing algorithms to help understand Spotify’s users, its markets, and its content. Build data driven solutions to distribute services to users. Leverage best practices in continuous integration and delivery. Drive optimization, testing and tooling to improve data quality. Design and build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks such as Scalding, Scio, Storm, Spark and Google CloudPlatform. Serve as testing and quality expert for data pipeline designing. Collaborate with other engineers, ML experts and stakeholders. Work in cross functional agile teams with a wide variety of stakeholders, software engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives. Collaborate in all aspects of the software development life cycle. Manage reliability incidents, troubleshoot, and drive improvements to fix root causes and implement preventive measures. Ensure data and backend development complies with Spotify and Google coding standards and guidelines. Scope, plan and assess feasibility of large engineering projects. Mentor engineers in backend engineering, data engineering, industry best practices, and the use of internal tooling. Perform automated test software development. Work closely with engineers to identify opportunities for improvements. *Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S.SALARY: $178,600 to $267,900/ yearWORK SCHEDULE: 9am to 5pm, 40 hours a week. (Monday - Friday)JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Must have five (5) years of experience with: Software Development using Java, Python or Scala; Test Automation; SCRUM, Kanban or similar Agile methodology; Git or similar source control systems; and Google Cloud or similar cloud infrastructure. Must have four (4) years of experience with: SQL and Relational Database; BigData Engineering; Docker or similar container framework; continuous deployment (CD) and continuous integration (CI); REST APIs; monitoring and debugging distributed systems; and designing and implementing data pipelines. Must have two (2) years of experience mentoring other engineers and creating best practices.
