Position Summary

This position provides the unique opportunity to be among the next generation of leadership at ANA, the premier trade association for the marketing/advertising industry.

ANA’s Brand & Media Division is responsible for leading member and industry discussion through our portfolio of committees and conferences.

ANA committees (http://www.ana.net/committees) provide a peer-to-peer forum and meeting place to bring members together for learning, sharing best practices, benchmarking, and networking. Committees curate content to help keep members “ahead of the curve” on what’s new and what’s next. This position will initially be responsible for managing 3-5 committees of the Brand & Media Division – identifying topics, programming content, engaging members, building new membership. Also, the position will have the broader responsibility within the group of being the “integrator” and “best practices guru” to provide consistent experiences and quality across the portfolio of committees. The specific committees that will be managed by this position are:

  • Commerce Marketing

  • Content Marketing

  • Relationship Marketing

  • Sponsorship & Experiential Marketing

The above subject areas are generally not supported by traditional advertising. Rather, they are “below the line” in nature.

ANA conferences are a key “external/public face” of ANA and offer high-quality content, learning and experiences for attendees. This position will lead the content development for approximately a half dozen conferences over the course of a year. ANA offers conferences in various formats. Our “members only conferences” (https://www.ana.net/calendar/index/calendar_filter/mocs) are single day events that are either in-person or fully virtual. Our “national industry conferences” (https://www.ana.net/calendar/index/calendar_filter/industry) are multiple day events that are held in-person but allow for virtual attendance.

Thought leadership is an important area of focus for this position. Through the work with our committees, we are exposed to issues and challenges that could benefit from ANA leadership representing the voice of the marketer. Examples of past thought leadership includes: programmatic media transparency (http://www.ana.net/programmatic) , ad fraud (https://www.ana.net/miccontent/show/id/rr-2019-bot-baseline) , supplier diversity (http://www.ana.net/supplierdiversity) , procurement (http://www.ana.net/procurement2022) , in-house agencies (https://www.ana.net/miccontent/show/id/rr-2018-in-house-agency) , and DEI (http://www.ana.net/diversity2023) . Thought leadership for this position is encouraged around the topic of brand building as well as the focus areas of the above committees. Often thought leadership projects are done in conjunction with working groups of ANA members and this position would lead some of those groups.

This position reports to the ANA Group EVP, who leads a team of 25+. It will work with various other groups across ANA including marketing and sponsorship. Prior experience on the agency side or with a client-side marketer is desired.

    Attributes/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required along with 15+ years of experience in senior-level advertising, marketing or media roles

  • A passion for the advertising/marketing industry

  • Experience in promotion, CRM and/or other “below the line” subject areas

  • A relationship builder and people person – the position provides the opportunity to work with ANA members at literally hundreds of companies

  • A strong sense of curiosity

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and “get your hands dirty” when needed with a “I’ll do whatever it takes” attitude and work ethic.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as independently and with minimal supervision

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple, concurrent project demands with quick turnaround times

  • High integrity and honesty

    Salary and Total Rewards Package:

Starting pay range:  $170,000 to $180,000, based on relevant experience and qualifications.

Comprehensive health and wellness benefits, 401k with company match, hybrid workweek and flexible scheduling, generous paid time off program, casual dress code, incentives, and rewards.

    To Apply:

If your skills, experience, and enthusiasm align with the requirements and responsibilities of this position, please forward your resume with a cover letter and salary requirements to  careers@ana.net .  Note: only applicants who include salary requirements will be considered.
