Job Purpose/Overview

As the Manager of Preventive Care and Customer Marketing, you will be responsible for developing an above brand Preventative Care program to increase compliance at the clinic level and collaborating with sales, sales enablement, and corporate accounts on implementation. The purpose of this program is to provide frameworks which increase the probability that veterinary practices increase client compliance for diagnostics recommendations.

This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, collaboration, and deep understanding of veterinary clinic operations, diagnostics – in hospital diagnostics, reference laboratory and teleradiology. The ideal candidate should be adept at direct to pet owner marketing and digital marketing tools, working in matrixed management structures, navigating complex market dynamics, and driving growth through innovative marketing initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Market Research and Insights

  • Conduct market research to understand the needs and behaviors of veterinary practices regarding diagnostics compliance.

  • Use these insights to inform program development and marketing strategies.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and shifts in veterinary medicine to continuously adapt and improve marketing strategies.

  • Program Development and Implementation

  • Lead the creation and execution of industry recognized above-brand education and marketing programs including digital aimed at increasing compliance with diagnostics recommendations in veterinary clinics – including wellness, pre-operative, radiology/teleradiology and genetics screening.

  • Develop strategies to effectively compete against major industry players, identifying unique selling points and value propositions.

  • Ensure these programs are tailored to meet the needs of different clinic sizes and types.

  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of marketing programs and initiatives, using metrics to measure success and inform future strategies.

  • Collaboration with Sales and National/Corporate Accounts teams

  • Work closely with the sales enablement, sales teams, and national/corporate account teams to ensure effective implementation and uptake of compliance programs.

  • Provide necessary training, materials, and support to sales representatives and account managers.

  • Cross Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Communications

  • Work closely with Capital Equipment and Products, Reference Lab and Services, and Development, Sales/Sales Enablement, Marketing/marcomm, National Accounts and Senior leadership audiences to ensure alignment of marketing strategies with product development and sales goals.

  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including presentations to executive teams and participation in industry events.

  • Budget Management

  • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to achieve program goals and deliver a strong return on investment.

Education and Experience

  • Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration or a related discipline, specialization in healthcare marketing is an added advantage.

  • 3+ years of marketing experience in healthcare, veterinary diagnostics industry/research, and/or (large/multi-site) veterinary hospital administration.

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing marketing strategies in a veterinary or healthcare setting.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees: DVM/LVT strongly preferred, MBA preferred.

  • Veterinary industry experience: Direct experience in the veterinary industry whether in clinical practice, veterinary pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, or related fields is highly valued.

  • Certifications: CVPM designation highly valued

  • Technical skills: Advanced knowledge of digital marketing tools, data analytics software, and CRM systems. Familiarity with veterinary practice management software is a plus.

  • Networking and Affiliations: Active participation in relevant industry associations, networks and professional groups within veterinary or healthcare marketing fields

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technical Skills and Experience Required

  • Strategic Marketing Expertise: Proven ability to develop and implement effective B2C marketing strategies, particularly in program development and digital marketing.

  • Digital Platform Marketing: Skills in promoting digital tools and platforms, ideally with experience in health or veterinary tech.

  • Data Analysis and Metrics: Competency in using data analytics to inform marketing decisions and measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

  • Budget Management: Experience in managing marketing budgets, allocating resources efficiently, and demonstrating a strong return on investment.

  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and completing marketing projects.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in presenting complex concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Industry Specific Knowledge Preferred

  • Practice Management Skills: Proficiency in understanding veterinary practice management dynamics, including workflow efficiency, client engagement strategies, and operational challenges. Ability to tailor marketing programs that align with and enhance the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic goals of veterinary practices. This includes knowledge of common practice management software systems and how diagnostic tools and recommendations can integrate seamlessly into these systems.

  • Veterinary Diagnostics Knowledge: Understanding of the veterinary diagnostics market, including trends, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Sales Collaboration: Experience working closely with sales teams, understanding the dynamics of sales and marketing collaboration in a healthcare-related field.

Travel

  • This role will require up to 25% travel, depending on the candidate’s location.

Working Conditions

The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment including use of cubicles, computers and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, data base management, email, and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.

The Target Pay Range for this position is $97,020 - $120,000 annually. At Mars, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
