Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist is a part of the HR People Service Center and will ensure efficient, effective, knowledgeable HR services to provide guidance and solutions related to HR inquiries from the university community. This position is responsible for facilitating and triaging HR inquiries including employee life cycle changes and general HR administration to ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively. The HR Generalist will build and maintain effective relationships with other team members within Human Resources to ensure tools and resources are up to date, and to identify opportunities to increase effectiveness of HR services. The incumbent completes personnel transactions and maintains associated records. Ensures compliance with applicable labor laws or regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Documents all contacts and outcomes utilizing the service management software

  • Utilizes knowledge base information to answer internal and external customer inquiries

  • Keeps abreast of all human resources programs and counsel’s current employees with benefits, compensation, and talent management inquiries

  • Facilitates the onboarding of all new hires

  • Processes transactions associated with the employee life cycle (New Hires, Promotions, Transfers, Secondary Payments, etc.)

  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex matters to higher-level HR team member.

    Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 0-3 years in a Human Resources role

  • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
