Description

 

To identify the essential skills needed to ensure all internal and external programs offered through the division of Cemetery and Parks are delivered in a consistent and high-quality manner.

 

Examples of Duties

 

  • Open and close burial spaces.
  • Perform grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, leaf removal, trash removal, and planting.
  • Perform a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of facilities, including interior and exterior painting, general carpentry repairs, basic construction, plumbing, electrical maintenance and repair skills.
  • Maintain cemetery equipment and clean up work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Remove snow from the cemetery, parks, and bike paths. 
  • Set up and tear down all parks and cemetery events. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude and working relationship with fellow staff, contractors, and the general public.
  • Performs other duties as required.

     

Typical Qualifications

 

  • Minimum  
    • Minimum 18 years of age;
    • High School diploma or equivalent;
    • Must have a valid Ohio CDL Class B License;
    • One (1) year of work experience or equivalent;
    • Ability to operate a backhoe, skid loader, zero turn mower, dump truck, chain saw, and miscellaneous hand and power tools;
    • Possess an awareness of worker safety guidelines and procedures, and applies these in performing daily activities and tasks;
    • Good writing and record-keeping skills;
    • Computer literacy with familiarity of MS Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Explorer, Word, etc.);
    • Basic map reading skills;
    • May require employee to work overtime during the week and weekends
  •  Preferred  

    • Three (3) years of work experience or equivalent;
    • Exceptional/advanced computer skills including MS Office Suite (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.); and mission related software platforms
    • Professional certification in a given trade
