Job Title: Lead Machine Operator

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for supervising the 2nd shift crew of packers, pouch machine operators, and working with the quality team. This candidate will handle scheduling, assist with equipment repairs, and be a hands-on supervisor. Responsibilities include monitoring the machine operating schedule, planning, and guiding the shipment team to ensure timely deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the 2nd shift crew of packers and pouch machine operators.

  • Collaborate with the quality team to ensure product standards.

  • Handle scheduling and assist with equipment repairs.

  • Act as a working supervisor, being hands-on with employees.

  • Monitor machine operating schedules and help with planning.

  • Guide the shipment team to ensure timely deliveries.

Essential Skills

  • 3 years of machine setup experience from plastics or flexible packaging experience.

  • Comfortable working on older equipment.

  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.

  • Ability to see colors (non-color blind).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5 years of flexible packaging experience and training.

  • ISO certifications from GMP processes.

  • Experience with machine slitting or converting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Niles, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
