Job Description

The Associate Director will play a critical role in supporting the VP, Commercial BHR and the Commercial BHR leadership team in both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations. This position acts as a liaison, advisor, and facilitator to ensure the seamless execution of HR strategies and processes across this organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

This role will be based from AbbVie’s headquarters in Lake County, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Support:

  • Support the VP, Functional BHR and team to develop and implement BHR strategies that align with the HR organization's overall business goals.

  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions and help prioritize HR initiatives to maximize impact.

  • Track and enable delivery of Function BHR strategies partnering closely with BHR and COE partners.

  • Operational Oversight:

  • Manage goals, projects, and initiatives, ensuring timely execution and communication across broader BHR team.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards for tracking BHR key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates to the leadership team.

  • Coordinate organization’s management routines including all-employee and staff meetings, operating reviews, and strategic forums.

  • Serve as the point of contact for BHR-related inquiries, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues.

  • Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with BHR, Centers of Excellence and Cross-functional team members to drive collaboration and alignment on key initiatives.

  • Provide guidance and support to Functions BHR teams globally in managing their projects and resources effectively.

  • Communication and Reporting:

  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and briefings to senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Ensure consistent and clear communication of Function BHR initiatives, expectations, and updates across the organization.

  • Champion AbbVie ways of working with Business and HR by modeling, educating, and coaching on these behaviors.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the functional BHR and work with relevant teams to implement solutions.

  • Facilitate, implement and model positive change by consistently raising the bar

  • Stay current with industry best practices and innovations in human resources management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in human resources

  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize data and insights into actionable strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a large, matrixed organization or global company

  • SPHR Certification.

  • Knowledge of HR information systems and data analytics tools.

  • Significant breadth of understanding of functional HR roles and responsibilities

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Salary: $133,500 - $253,500
