Position Summary: This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating all warehousing activities and support staff engaged in receiving, storing, issuing, and transferring materials/equipment and supplies for LCEC. Responsibilities includes coordination of work schedules; ensuring adequate quantities of materials/supplies are staged at all identified warehousing sites, daily supervision of bargaining unit staff, process improvements, employee engagement and motivation, cost reductions, and budget preparation and oversight.

Position Responsibilities

  • Implement, document and ensure standard operating procedures are followed in the warehouse. This includes overseeing warehouse daily operations to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions and confirming the condition of incoming and out-going shipments of material.

  • Provide supervision and leadership towards the supply chain process to ensure the most cost-effective methods are utilized to achieve the most efficient through put of materials and services. This includes continual process review to identify gaps and improvement opportunities and coordinate implementation of related solutions.

  • Create a culture of recognition, feedback and development among warehouse personnel. Provide the team with coaching, skills improvement identification and guidance. Encourage improvement ideas from team members and encourage ownership in warehouse processes.

  • Ensure adequate staffing, training, and enforcement of company policies and guidelines. This includes scheduling and monitoring daily work activities, ensuring materials are properly charged, performance management, coaching/counseling of warehouse personnel, recruitment and training of newly hired warehouse workers.

  • Schedule and assign personnel to perform daily cycle counts, research and reconcile discrepancies (or oversee the research and reconciliation efforts of personnel) to recommend inventory adjustments.

  • Review and research damage claims and recommend response and/or action needed.

  • Forecast and plan for future departmental needs consistent with economic drivers, addressing warehousing needs, i.e. materials, equipment, material handling, facilities, and work force.

  • Work with purchasing department to assess and plan for seasonal material requirements necessary to ensure adequate materials, supplies, and equipment availability to support normal storm season requirements and major disaster restoration efforts. Will also work with Purchasing Supervisor to utilize on hand inventory quantity, unit costs and supplier costs to determine if material will be provided from on hand inventory or included in material kits supplied by vendor.

  • Prepare, operate, and monitor department budget. Maintain cost-control standards. Ensure all warehouse locations have adequate materials/supplies needed for their daily activities, and all materials issued are charged and/or credited to ensure work order closing.

  • Identify improvement opportunities and lead critical departmental initiatives to implement improvements. Identify performance metrics and report same to management, as well as direct reports.

  • Meet routinely with internal customers, including but not limited to; purchasing, construction/maintenance, sub-station, engineering, SCADA, meter services, and field services to ensure customer satisfaction and discuss improvement opportunities.

  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.

  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge to aid in reviewing and recommending advance the use of technology in the warehouse environment.

  • This position will be subject to significant restoration responsibilities resulting in long and irregular work hours until power is restored to our service territory.

  • Frequent business travel to all areas of the service territory.

  • Perform special projects and analyses as assigned.

Education

  • Associate's Degree Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or similar course of study. (Required) or

  • An equivalent combination of education, active certifications, and progressively responsible work experience in all phases of warehousing operations may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or similar course of study. (Preferred)

Experience

  • 7+ to 10 Years Leadership experience directly supervising/leading warehousing activities performed by others; minimum two (2) years in a bargaining unit setting. (Required)

  • 7+ to 10 Years Experience in all phases of increasingly more complicated warehousing activities, material forecasting and supply chain management workflows. (Required)

  • Minimum 2 years’ Previous experience in performing all supervisory functions, including budget preparation/justification, and performance management. (Required)

  • Prior work experience utilizing the inventory and purchasing modules in an enterprise system. (Required)

  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint in a professional setting. (Required)

  • Prior work experience utilizing Excel to perform intermediate or advanced functions. (Required)

  • Prior work experience in an electric distribution setting. (Preferred)

  • Prior work experience in NISC enterprise software. (Preferred)

  • Maintain a valid Florida driver license and acceptable driving record to as determined by company policy to drive a company vehicle. (Required)

  • Ability to read and interpret distribution line construction drawings. (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Florida Driver License Upon Hire. (Required)

  • Professional certification in inventory management or warehousing. (Preferred)
