Robert Half Bilingual Medical Assistant (English/Cantonese) in Oakland, California
Description
We are working with a local healthcare organization that is seeking a highly organized and responsible Bilingual Medical Assistant who can fluently converse in English and Cantonese. The main goal is to provide exemplary care to our culturally diverse patient community and support the daily operations of our medical practice.
Responsibilities:
Assisting during medical examinations
Taking patient's medical history, vital signs, and information on the reason for the visit
Accompany patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs - weight, height, etc.
Perform all clerical duties associated with patient check-in, checkout, referrals and insurance verification
Preparing patients for examinations and medical procedures
Performing basic laboratory tests on the premises
Managing inventory of medical supplies
Translating complex medical information to patients who speak Cantonese
Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
Facilitating communication between the medical staff and patients/families who predominantly communicate in Cantonese
Respect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Current certification as a Medical Assistant OR ability to gain certification within 6 months of hire
Must be fluent in both English and Cantonese
Superior patient/customer service skills
Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred
At least 1 year of professional experience as a medical assistant, preferred
Familiarity with medical terminology
Proficiency with electronic medical records, preferred
Compassionate and caring demeanor
CPR Certified, preferred
