Director, Software Engineering

Overview

Cryptographic Security Team is a dedicated collection of self-organizing, high performing, interdependent, individuals representing different functional roles with all the necessary skills to create the foundational capabilities that application teams develop on top of it. We are looking for a strong technical leader with excellent communication and leadership skills to join our team and drive the delivery of key initiatives.

Role

• Successfully lead definition, development and delivery of major cross-department initiatives with broad scope and long-term business implications. Collaborate with business and technical partners to identify and scope the opportunities, quantify costs, outline potential value and ROI, identify risks, benefits and constraints.

• Formally supervise and coach an engineering team of multiple roles and be responsible for planning and business execution of goals and objectives.

• Create and sustain an environment of ingenuity and creativity and challenges the status quo to encourage innovation

• Provides strategic leadership related to specific applications and systems, or software-development methodologies

• Oversees the management of the software engineering function and acts as an authority on high-level and complex decisions within the function

• Responsible for business case development and scenario planning leading to an effective decision-making process for new initiatives

All About You

• Expert understanding of application security designs and relevant work experience with hardware security modules (HSM)

• Experience leveraging or developing solutions using Information Security-related concepts: Cryptography – X.509, Certificate Management Protocol (CMP), public key cryptography standards, Hardware Security Modules (HSM), PKCS11

• Expert understanding of software engineering concepts and methodologies

• Experience working on large-scale enterprise initiatives that include multiple impact teams across the enterprise

• Experience in vendor management and direction - including driving the creation and execution of SOW contracts, issue management and vendor deliverables

• High-energy, detail-oriented, proactive and able to handle multiple high-priority demands while driving consistent results

• High degree of ownership and autonomy to deliver objectives

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
