The Safety Specialist 2 position is currently open at the Department of Transportation, and they are actively looking for qualified candidates. DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

The primary responsibility of this role is to offer expert advice and solutions to address safety issues. This includes providing recommendations on how to minimize accidents and personal injuries. Additionally, the position involves evaluating safety suggestions put forward by employees and assessing their compatibility with existing policies. Moreover, the individual in this role should possess the ability to identify hazardous work environments and make informed decisions on whether to halt operations for the sake of safety.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• This position requires travel to office locations, stockpiles and crews within the district and statewide.
• Overtime is required when necessary and travel overnight as required for training and meetings.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
• Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Safety Specialist 1 (commonwealth title); or
• One year of professional experience in conducting safety inspections, safety investigations, or safety training; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

• You must obtain an active Advanced Safety Certificate issued by the National Safety Council's Safety Training Institute within two years of starting in this job.

Other Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
