The Okanogan County Department of Juvenile and Family Services is now accepting applications for Probation Manager.  Starting salary is $5716 to $6948 per month DOE plus a full benefit package including: Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement, paid sick and annual leave accruals. 

This is a supervisory level position which provides oversight, scheduling, program development, organization, monitoring, evaluation and support of assigned court services officers for the department in areas which may include, but are not limited to, offender intakes, offender investigations, offender diagnostics, various types and levels of offender supervision, guardian ad litem appointments, dependency, at risk youth, children in need of services, truancy, domestic relations, adoptions, paternity, case management and volunteer programs.  Develops and ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures and legal requirements.  Develops relationships with staff, other agencies and individuals both within and outside of county government that will facilitate participation, teamwork, effective functioning and use of resources.  The person in this position must independently perform work with little supervision, structure or guidance and must exercise independent judgement in analyzing programmatic problems, issues and situations, while developing recommendations for new or modified programs.

Summary of Minimum/Required Qualifications (see job description for complete list):

  • A Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college or university in social/behavioral sciences, criminal justice or a closely related field with a minimum of five years' experience in progressively more responsible roles in the juvenile justice system, social/behavioral sciences or a closely related field. At the sole discretion of the Department, a combination of relevant education, training and experience may be accepted in lieu of, or as an equivalent to the Bachelors Degree, if deemed appropriate to the needs of the Department.
  • Must have a minimum of two years' experience serving in a supervisory capacity supervising a minimum of two staff. Equivalent Educational and/or experience may be substituted by the Administrator
  • 21 years of age or older with legal right to live and work in the U.S.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license
  • Must have experience in personnel training, management and policy and procedure development and implementation.
  • Must be of high moral character, have a commitment to the agency mission and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be law abiding, drug free and not involved in alcohol abuse.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work with families and at risk youth
  • Must have the ability to work irregular hours and be subject of call in on short notice
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Must be flexible, creative and possess the ability to lead. Must have a professional appearance and be able to develop good working relationships with a variety of people.
