Your Opportunity as the Lead Engineer, Technical Services Organization - Sweet Baked Snacks Lead the plant Capital Projects Delivery Process and execute initiatives to drive our Company strategy. Ensure all phases are followed and executed timely and efficiently. Strong focus on continuous improvement mindset into sustainable practices. Drive cost effective resolutions across multidisciplinary teams to help maintain/grow our profit margins. Location: Remote - nearby a Sweet Baked Snacks bakery Preferred locations - Emporia, KS; Columbus, GA; and Arkadelphia, AR Work Arrangements: Travel - typically up to 50% (for first year; then anticipate up to 30% per year) Reports To: Senior Manager, Project Engineering - Sweet Baked Snacks In this role you will: Writes project charters and funding requests Ensures all phases of the Capital Project Delivery process such as Front-End Engineering and Start Up Management are followed, partnering with engineering firms where applicable Leads the development of project cost estimates and manages projects to meet the estimates 80% of the time Develops and manages project schedules to meet project objectives 95% of the time; this includes coordinating and monitoring schedule updates in conjunction with engineering, operations, and construction resources Establishes project practices and procedures including ones related to safety, quality, cost, and schedule Manages project changes and the decision-making process Drives resolution of key technical issues within the team; ensures all Smucker engineering and code requirements are met Understands the key project support systems like Marketplace and Spotfire and is able to utilize these to stay on track and move the project forward Clearly communicates project status, outages and watchouts as the primary link between the project team and upper management Understands key roles of Smucker employees and contractors and can mesh the two for a seamless project execution Can lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, operation leaders, and technicians to successfully execute a project Works with operations and product development to determine internal customer needs Provides technical support to Project Managers in the areas of project controls, budget, and accounting systems Ensures that projects are documented in accordance with good engineering practices Help coach and develop Operational Process Engineers The Right Role for You We are bold, kind, strive to do the right thing, we play to win, and we believe in a strong community that thrives together. What we are looking for: Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's of Engineering degree 5+ years of experience in project management, construction management, or operations leadership An understanding of the Capital Delivery Process Able to perform moderate activity including but not limited to, significant time spent on manufacturing floor and some physical work on equipment Ability to organize and prioritize actions to help meet plant objectives and long-term vision Display a high level of professional maturity, including the ability to appropriately protect, maintain and work with highly sensitive and confidential information Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, including cross-functional groups Ability to coach and train others Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role: Previous experience in a food (pet, bakery, or confectionary) manufacturing environment Prior experience managing capital spend / budget of $10-$15 million or more Learn more about working at Smucker: Our Total Rewards Benefits Program
