Summary

Accountable to the Board of Directors, and reporting to the Chamber Board President, this Position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the chamber, including membership, Programs, marketing, and staffing. The position is the chamber's main spokesperson and ambassador, Professionally representing the chamber at events and meetings, and serving as the primary media contact.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of tourism trends and genuine interest in Oscoda issues/growth opportunities

3 years chamber of commerce/non-profit experience OR comparable equivalent

Reliable, self-motivated, professional outgoing image with even temperament

Exceptional public relations and community consensus skills (ie. Works effectively with diverse groups, Active listing, civility, public speaking, written communications, networking)

Sales, marketing, and financial strategy and management skills

Goal and continuous improvement oriented, strong time management and organizational skills, critical Thinking, problem solving and opportunities analysis

Working knowledge of local, regional and state level political systems

Functions well as part of a team, and has ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among board members, staff, chamber members, and community leaders and organizations

Primary Responsibilities: Membership: Develop, retain and grow a strong membership by visiting both members and non-members, listening to their needs, sharing Chamber programs and statistics. Develop positive member relationships and benefits, and be a visible contributor to the local community. Anticipate and resolve member problems or issues.

Build Community Partnerships: Promote the Chamber's vision, mission and membership through active community engagement at chamber hosted events, business and community events, and township government agencies and neighbor community chambers.

Marketing & Media: Implement a marketing plan that assures positive community image. Represent the chamber in interviews, and manage the chamber's online / radio / print / social media presence.

Members' Events: Plan, organize and host the annual membership meeting, quarterly networking, and also learning events with topics based on membership's input and needs.

Website: Ensure the website features local business news, business stories and a membership directory (events content is responsibility of the Event Coordinator)

Community Fun & Fund raising Events: Enable and ensure success of Chamber Events, by clearing roadblocks, creating partnerships, recruiting volunteers and committee leaders that enable the Events Coordinator to best perform their role.

Financial: Monitor the chamber's fiscal condition, and as needed, engage with Chamber Accountant, Board Treasurer, and Event Committees to ensure annual budget expenses/revenue are met.

Personnel Management: Supervise and motivate chamber staff for collaborative and effective performance (coaching, development, performance reviews)

Working with the Board: Maintain open communication and elevate potential issues for timely resolution. Utilize cost-benefit analysis to propose ideas, programs and events that meet the chamber's defined value criteria. Prepare board meeting schedule, agendas and materials. Create and present needed best practices, policies and procedures that support chamber operations. Ensure annual goals are created in alignment with the chamber strategy
