Summary:

The Supervisor, Accounting will play a key role in the timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financial statements through the administration and documentation of SOX controls and ensuring the financial integrity of the company’s general ledger and accounting records. This role actively participates in the design and implementation of various technology tools as it relates to financial data processing and involves cross-functional collaboration when necessary to advise others of proper policies, procedures and control adherence. This role assists with the management of the monthly accounting close process, preparing and reviewing analysis to generate journal entries, financial statement supporting schedules and account reconciliations.

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversees the preparation of periodic financial statements and the corporate annual report.

  • Works with accounting team to create and develop sustainable processes and procedures.

  • Ensures that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

  • Assists external auditors and provides required statements and information for the annual audit.

  • Reviews budget reports and assists other departments to prepare annual budgets.

  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

  • Complies with local, state, and federal government requirements.

  • Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations; commitment to staying current on new accounting guidance

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to coach others, including cross functional coaching, in order to maintain a strong control environment

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) in accounting from a four-year college or university required

  • 7 years related work experience required

  • Experience leading and managing a team

  • Publicly traded company experience preferred

  • CMA or CPA preferred
