Engineers in our platform development team are playing a key role in building software platforms serving our technology department as well as other departments across the firm. We are looking for a mid-level Java Engineer to join the team developing systems on our cloud-based infrastructure. In this role you will foster innovation as you build applications to provide business value solutions for our clients. You will be part of a collaborative team of curious and enthusiastic engineers who bring different perspectives to our projects working with AWS, Java, and Microservice technology.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced mid-level Java Engineer with 2+ years of java experience including microservice development and familiarity working with cloud-based applications. You will also:

  • Contribute to all parts of the SDLC, e.g., design, development, and testing

  • Develops technical solutions following standard methodologies with some guidance from senior engineers

  • Practices automated testing and tests your work in an automated and repeatable way

  • Identifies and remediates technical debt

  • Works with existing data models and schemas and suggests changes and improvements where necessary

  • Demonstrates strong logic and reasoning capabilities

  • Delivers on well-specified work items

  • Uses questions and proposals to clarify requirements when unclear

    Business Knowledge

  • Experience working directly with business partners

  • Connects one's own work with the strategy of their team and/or department.

    Requirements

  • 2+ years of progressive Java development experience including microservice development

  • Significant expertise designing, developing, deploying, and supporting Java backend solutions

  • Hands on experience with AWS cloud technologies including databases, caching, and messaging is a nice to have

  • Able to work with existing data models and schemas and suggest changes and improvements

  • Experience using UNIX, scripting, and GitLab

  • Have written Unit tests and has familiarity with a variety of testing frameworks

  • Provides a clear and concise explanation of business strategy, technical concepts, designs or implementation to a non-technical audience

  • Able to quickly learn new technologies and stay abreast of industry trends

  • Able to support deployments and occasional support activities outside normal business hours as needed

  • Able to work relatively independently

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role. Work Flexibility This role is eligible for remote work up to three days a week.
