Ethos Veterinary Health ER Veterinary Outpatient Technician in Parker, Colorado

We have a variety of schedule options for this position, including day and swing shift, to be discussed further during the interview process. Training days/hours TBD
*This position will pay $25-$34 hourly DOE
At least ONE YEAR of experience is required to be considered for this role! CVT/RVT Required!
Overall Responsibility: The outpatient ER Technician’s primary responsibility is to triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels. Assess pets and provide immediate life saving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients. Provides history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients. Works with float technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plan and/or hospitalize the patient. Communicates medical updates, financials, and treatment plans to owners.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Provides excellent patient care to every patient
Triage patients as they come into the ER with appropriate medical decision making and escalation to ER doctor as appropriate.
Obtaining history and vital signs of the pet
Assist DVM’s with exams, treatments and procedures
Immediately respond to STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols
Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a Veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders
Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery).
Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing EzyVet and Smartflow
Demonstrate working knowledge of financial and charging practices including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment and discharging patients.
Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients are receiving the best possible patient care
Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions
Attend department and staff meetings
Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
Other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of animal experience required. Veterinary Technician Certification.
Preferred Requirements: Strong technical skills to provide excellent and efficient patient care. Ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Excellent communication skills in all areas including clients, staff, and leadership. Great work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to adhere to strict attendance policies. Ability to handle fluctuation caseload and emergency situations.
Physical Requirements: This job is physically active and may require frequent bending. It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and use hands. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
Language Ability: Ability to speak in an understandable manner and understand the English language.
Skill Requirements: Strong ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Excellent communication with staff, and between staff, and upper management.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment is predominantly indoors with occasional outdoor exposure when walking patients. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals related to veterinary medicine.
Emotional Demands: The ER Department can be emotionally stressful. Technicians will see critical patients in triage and occasionally patients who will be euthanized. The ER Department can be a fast-paced and demanding environment. An ER Technician must handle stress well and in a healthy manner. They must keep a positive attitude with clients and fellow employees at all times.
