The opportunity

The Senior Director of Global Statistics is a key member of the Global Statistical and Data Sciences Leadership Team. The Senior Director is a skilled statistician with training and significant experience in drug development and clinical research. The Senior Director, in collaboration with his or her peers, provides statistical leadership for the Global Statistics organization. The Senior Director is knowledgeable about statistical principles and appropriate software and tools to guide and mentor his or her team. A Senior Director, Statistics must be a strong individual contributor, demonstrating leadership qualities, creative and strategic thinking and knowledge of cutting-edge clinical trial design and methodology. He or she must have experience with regulatory submissions both in the US and outside of the US. He or she must have excellent written and oral communication skills. This individual must be able to be a manager of managers and inspire those under their responsibility to be ambassadors for Global Statistics within the greater organization and promote excellence in statistics throughout the organization.

The person hired into this position will need to be located in commutable distance to our Parsippany, NJ or West Chester, PA office

How you’ll spend your day

  • Manages managers and statisticians within the team to oversee statistical work in multiple areas.

  • Leads and promotes a positive work culture within statistics and within TEVA

  • Responsible for oversight of the statistical aspects of the design, implementation, and analysis of clinical studies to support global regulatory submissions, payer submissions and medical affairs

  • Works with multi-functional areas of the organization to determine necessity and type of research required

  • Provides strategic statistical oversight and consultation for statisticians in Global Statistics

  • Leads clinical development and Global Statistics through the use of novel/innovative clinical trial designs and statistical methodology

  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives

  • Consults, mentors, and teaches other statisticians on statistical methodology, trial design, and data analysis strategies

  • Helps develop and maintain departmental SOPs and ensure their compliance in daily work

  • Supports due diligence activities

Your experience and qualifications

Education Required:

  • Ph.D./MS in Statistics/Biostatistics (or related field)

Experience Required:

  • Ph.D. with a minimum of 12 years of related experience or MS with a minimum of 18 years of related experience

Functional Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver quality products with efficiency as well as having relevant technical and scientific publications is preferred.

  • Ability to influence others in the organization and drive organizational change within and outside of Global Statistics.

  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.

  • Experience leading a team of Statisticians.

  • Ability to communicate with non-statisticians to interpret statistical concepts and findings.

  • Good organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated project and technical leadership qualities, and creative and strategic thinking required.

  • Company/Industry Related Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of relevant ICH, FDA and CHMP guidelines

  • Experience with regulatory submissions in the US and globally

Job-Specific Competencies:

  • Experience working in an outsourcing model (fully or functional outsourcing)

  • Ability to program using SAS, knowledge of R is beneficial

  • A broad understanding of the application of Statistics to Research & Development and Medical Affairs

  • Able to partner with and influence others within the clinical research and development and global medical

  • affairs organization

  • Excellent statistical knowledge with the ability to apply this to scientific problems

  • Excellent knowledge of the responsibilities and the role of a supervisor and leader of an organization

  • A track record of sustained delivery and innovation within Global Statistics
