This Position is for a Mechanic Helper with a company in Pascagoula, MS.
Summary: This position performs mechanical work in the diagnosis maintenance and repair of automobiles, light-duty trucks, heavy equipment, and light field equipment.

Diagnoses problems and determines the extent of repairs or adjustments needed for automobiles, heavy equipment, light duty vehicles, and equipment such as lawnmowers, weed eaters, and chain saws. Adheres to city and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains, adjusts, and repairs operating systems including, but not limited to electrical, charging, starting, fuel, ignition, hydraulic suspension, braking and steering systems. Provides road service when required. Keeps repair and maintenance records of time spent, materials, parts used, and type of work performed Adheres to safety rules and procedures related to the use of tools, vehicles, and equipment. Provides advice and instruction to operators regarding fluid level checks and other routine maintenance. Maintains, adjusts, and repairs components including, but not limited to, engines, transmissions, radiators, and bodies. Drives vehicles into and out of service bays and performs road tests. Completes repairs and other assigned work in a timely fashion. May lead and direct the work of assigned helpers when required. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with coworkers. Other duties assigned.
Education and Experience: High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Experience: One to two years related experience. Knowledge: Knowledge of methods, tools, materials, equipment, and procedures used in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment Certificates & Licenses: Certificates & Licenses: Must have a valid drivers license issued by the State of Mississippi, must pass a drug screening and driving record must be sufficient to maintain insurability on the Company's vehicle liability policy to operate motor vehicles owned by the City or the Company. Clean MVR. Accountability & ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions. Analytical Skills & ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem. Interpersonal & ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals. Organized & possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.
