Paulding Juvenile Court Probation/ Diversion Officer in Paulding, Ohio

The Paulding County Probation and Diversion Department, which is operated by the Paulding County Juvenile Court as part of a community collaborative, accepts referrals of youth from various sources, including the schools, law enforcement, and the prosecutor's office, and administers a series of evidence-based assessments and screenings on a youth to determine needs of the youth and his or her family, including whether the youth should be diverted from formal court involvement and whether the youth and family should be referred to appropriate interventions and community supports. Probation/ Diversion officers are responsible for oversight and management of youth formally involved with the court or Diverted from formal involvment.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

· Provides crisis intervention for clients by assessing their situation and directing the youth and family to suitable solutions and interventions, including referrals to community partners;

· Develop and implement alternatives to formal court involvement with Juvenile Court and community partners;

· Coordinates case plans, organizing and prioritizing workload accordingly;

· Provides supervision to youth while in custody and secures emergency placements;

· Conducts the Ohio Youth Assessment System (OYAS);

· Oversees individual and family assessments for cases referred to thecourt;

· Meets with families on an informal basis to discuss the possible alternatives to filing a formal complaint with Juvenile Court;

· Oversees a caseload of youth diverted from formal court involvement;

· Works with parents to establish positive parenting skills and with youth to help them accept responsibility for their actions and problems;

· Collaborates with community partners and service providers in an ongoing effort to develop services and supports available to youth and families;

· Provides crisis and assessment services to the school systems of Paulding County to intervene with disciplinary problems in lieu of a formal filing with the court;

· Serves as a liaison between the court, law enforcement, and community partners;

· Attends Paulding County Family & Children First Council, Paulding Area Social Services Network, and other meetings on behalf of the court;

· Maintains data through the case management system and Excel, including data related to basic demographics on youth physically entering the Assessment Center;

· Conducts urinalysis screenings and oral screenings on all youth as ordered by the court;

· Ensures achievement of targeted outcomes in accordance with court standards;

· Serves on various planning and developmental committees as directed;

· Assists with the preparation of various reports, including the Juvenile Court annual report;

· Receives and responds to calls from law enforcement personnel/agencies, including calls occasionally outside normal business hours and on weekends, when on call; and

· Performs other tasks as directed by the Judge.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $19.00 per hour
