THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a highly responsible position within the Senior Center Program, serving as director of our Multi-Purpose Senior Center and supervising the Assistant Director, part-time instructors, nutrition manager, volunteers, and senior aides. You will be responsible for seeking goals for the center's program and assuring their attainment, as well as ensuring the safety of members and arranging emergency and general repairs. Responsibilities also include ordering necessary supplies through the Bureau of the Aging Purchasing Agent and accurately maintaining prescribed books and records of the center's financial activity, membership cards, statistical reports, and inventory of the supplies.

In this position, you will also plan and execute programs, educational activities, parties, trips, and special events with input from the center members to promote healthy lifestyles while encouraging safety. Other duties include but are not limited to giving first aid treatment to clients in emergency situations and establishing a list of members who are eligible for transportation to and from center. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three months of experience as a Senior Center Operator 1;or

  • Six months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities;or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
