Program Overview

The Comcast Cooperative Educational Program (Co-op) immerses students into the daily operations of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. Designed for students whose curriculum allows for a cooperative learning track, the co-op becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. Throughout the experience, there is opportunity for exposure to mentorship and professional development while having some fun along the way.

Role Overview

We are seeking a co-op for Enterprise Data Stewardship to support our Data Experience (dx) organization's enterprise-wide data governance and stewardship strategy. This role is crucial for enacting the company’s data governance, strategy, and execution, focusing primarily on data stewardship while also contributing to data governance initiatives.

As part of this team, this co-op will be on the Metadata and Taxonomy team and will assist in metadata and taxonomy creation, maintenance, and outreach including (but not limited to):

  • Support the development of the enterprise taxonomy and business metadata, including but not limited data dictionaries and business glossaries

  • Ensure data element lineage and other business and technical metadata is well documented

  • Perform analysis on business provided documents and processes to identify gaps/issues and provide recommendations/requirements on adjustments

  • Creates and maintains appropriate documentation and operating procedures for all process work

  • Work closely with business data stewards to assess/communicate data changes and the resulting technology impacts

  • Support efforts to monitor compliance with established standards and metrics

  • Assist in data impact analysis and data quality initiatives

  • Partner with the Business and Internal Stakeholders to support implementation of Data Producer-Consumer Agreements (DPCA)

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s ) and overtime as necessary.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with data stewardship to ensure metadata compliance and completeness

  • Providing data analysis through SQL and other tools

  • Assist with documentation efforts in providing evergreen, pertinent information to stakeholders

  • Support team in overseeing the actions of Data Stewards within the various business units and business functions

  • Assist with end user data questions

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL and querying methods

  • Copy editing and writing

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel

  • Data analysis, Data Quality, Data Governance, Data Management Principles

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Library and Information Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track .

  • Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting September 23 , 2024 through March 28, 2025 .

  • Available to report in-person to the work location provided above.

    1. 0 minimum cumulative GPA preferred.

Salary:

Base Pay: $32.00
