Confidential Employer HR Generalist in PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania

Ensure that all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met
Assist in maintaining and coordinating FMLA guidelines while monitoring any potential abuse of the law
Maintain working relationship with Union officials and adhere to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions and assist in handling employee discipline as required
Assist HR Employee and Labor Relations Supervisor in investigating, answering, and settling grievances by arranging and scheduling grievance hearings between union personnel, supervisor and the Management team
Assist in coordination of company benefits administration, while being responsive to employee's claims and coverage questions
Present company benefits and work rules to newly hired employee groups
Facilitate and/or provide training (including orientation) to the workforce
Assist Employee and Labor Relations Supervisor with responding to employee relations' issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and EEO complaints by conducting investigations and acts as liaison with counsel on these representational matters
Provide response to unemployment claims and represent the company at unemployment hearings
Support leadership in applying HR best practices and devising strategies in line with company goals and objectives, ensuring company growth as well as employee wellbeing
Comply with all legal postings
Assist with all HR reporting, i.e. EEO and internal reporting
Respond to employee requests, employee verifications, etc.
Coordinate employee evaluations with management
Assist in subcontractor eligibility for new hire and rehire
Perform other related duties as required and assigned* *

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
5+ years' experience in Human Resources Management
PHR preferred
Experience working in a union environment

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is an onsite, full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.

Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations preferred
Broad understanding of HR functions like recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy administration, and compliance
Exposure to all HR disciplines (benefits, labor, recruiting, employee relations, wage and salary, training, etc.)
Ability to objectively coach employees and manage through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
Ability to build relations with employees and create a positive work environment.
Ability to research and analyze various different types of data information
Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
Must be familiar with Word, Excel, HRMS, Kronos, and UKG preferred
SHRM certification a plus
