Job Summary

The emerging wireless team focuses on the Xfinity Wireless customer experience. The scope includes gathering insights on wireless, which requires an understanding of 5G & wireless as well as experience in spatial analytics and machine learning to solve big data problems. The team supports key strategic initiatives: understanding the Xfinity Mobile customer usage & performance; building insights on wireless opportunities and competitive landscape in our footprint; and rolling out new network plans and features. We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer (Eng 6) with considerable experience modeling mobile networks to join our team. This is an individual contributor role which involves significant collaboration across teams and with vendors.

Job Description

Responsibilit ies

  • Provide SME-level expertise and guidance on mobile and fixed wireless networks, from technology, capabilities, spectrum, performance, and future direction

  • Manage development of a complex mobile and FWA / Private 5G network modeling tool , feeding in data from in-depth technical knowledge of 5G networks, market information, spectrum, and financial factors to analyze outcomes on network traffic, capacity , and capex- opex or business case

  • Determine wireless network modeling scenarios and ‘what-if’ scenarios it makes sense to run

  • Perform detailed data analysis and extract business intelligence from various types of wireless network data, using big data analysis tools when necessary

  • Perform detailed analysis on various issues related to the wireless industry, including spectrum, regulatory issues, etc., and write reports when required

  • Create detailed as well as executive level presentations on modeling results or other wireless network analysis or technology

  • Keep up-to-date on direction of future 3GPP releases and features

  • Provide MNO network modeling-based analyses for business decisions and strategy

    Qualifications

  • Wireless network SME with at 15 years of experience in the wireless network industry,

  • Understanding of all aspects of mobile wireless networks, from in-depth technology to financials .

  • 5G & WiFi experience, preferably on the RAN side .

  • 5+ years demonstrable experience in modeling mobile and fixed wireless networks, taking in-depth technology, market, and financial details into account to model mobile and fixed wireless network traffic and capacity , including understanding of emerging 5G & WIFi .

  • Experienced in managing vendors and personnel to assist with modeling or other work .

  • Must have significant industry knowledge and be familiar with U.S. MNO’s.

  • Must also have experience in analyzing spectrum-related issues.

  • Executive-level strategy consulting experience is a must .

  • Data analytic experience is a plus
